Today we got late fiducial. I mean who would’ve ever thought, we are always used to waking up at 8:30 but today we got to stay in till 10:00!!! Some people decided to go around downtown and check out all the stores on a Sunday in Sackville. Some of us decided that instead of going out to town, we were going to catch up on sleep and sleep in. Since our first meeting was so late in the day - 10:00 some were able to get nine hours of sleep (at the sacrifice of breakfast).
We spent the day with various project times. First we began with our DE (design and entrepreneurship) projects, where we started to refine our elevator pitch. Using tape, coloured construction paper, scissors, printed pages, markers, we started to assemble our trifold posters.
After our DE project time, we transitioned to Jennings where we ate lunch. This gave us some time to recuperate before we went into our community project time. For those of you who don’t know, we are doing a project to give back to the town of Sackville, where we showcase the rich history of the community and show important values like unity. We had two and a half hours of valuable time to work on our project. Then we had another break to have dinner at Jennings.
We spent another hour and a half on our community project. This allowed us to do our final edits on the script and do one full run through of the performance. Each group received criticism from the main organizer of the project, Chesky, our Program Assistants, and fellow SHAD’s.
Lastly, we played the world game. Pretty much, the PA’s put us in a room with no instruction, just countries, and an envelope with paper. We all struggled for a while, were confused but eventually we decided the paper was money, and made so many assumptions without being told anything. It turns out it was a social psychology test and it was to show us how we would act in certain situations. I for one, completely jumped on the money train and so did a bunch of others. Overall it was pretty cool to see how people acted without any rules by creating a hierarchy solely based on the idea that one country was better than the other.
At the end of the night we ended it with free time, where the majority of people spent time finishing off their trifold DE projects.
It was a long day but it was solid :)
