The morning started with breakfast at Jenning’s, with the classic arrangement: french toast, eggs, ham and tater tots. The SHADs were pleasantly surprised this morning as the program directors tricked them into thinking that they were going to Costco! Fortunately they had a lot more exciting things planned...
After a half hour drive, the group arrived in Moncton. The group split into two, one half going to the RCMP Forensics unit, learning about prints, pathology, and evidence gathering. The other at The Moncton Hospital, and played a medicinal JeoParody game with our assistant program director Justin. The groups then swapped places; and were then treated to an assortment of Subway subs and chewy bars.
Next up on the un-written agenda was a series of afternoon rotations including; a microbiology tour, an introduction to respiratory therapy, an ambulance, a pathology tour (dissected organs!), a lesson on suturing, CPR (with a dummy), and quick lessons on radiology and hand washing.
(Running a little late) the group had dinner at Jenning’s dining hall where we had chicken, potatoes, vegetables, a kale salad, and cheesy rice with broccoli.
Our Rec Director had an intense schedule ready for rec time after dinner. After coming up with east-coast animal team names, changing into assigned colours, and coming up with team cheers, everyone went to Alumni field. Simultaneous games of soccer, ultimate and chuck the chicken were ongoing in round robin style between our rec groups. Shoutouts to Red and Blue teams for playing chuck the chicken for fifteen consecutive minutes! Near the end of rec time, two of our very own made a personal sacrifice, wearing a shaving cream and Cheeto-cap! Thanks to Ben and Joshua for volunteering!
Awesome SHAD speaks tonight after rec by: Justin, Angad, Jael, and Julia, tackling topics from grammar to mental health and fitness/well-being.
The SHADs got some free time to practice their upcoming Hot Cocoa Hut acts before bed.
