Today started off in the community centre after our sleepover! We packed up our stuff, then had a Timmies breakfast before doing some morning activities. We started off by placing a game of Huckle-buckle that was so close we had to call it with multiple winners. This was followed by a game where we all held hands in a group and had to untangle ourselves into a circle, which by some crazy fluke ended up in two linked circles! We then played a fun round of group Pictionary before getting on the bus and heading to Charlottetown for three hours of free time!
Shads were given a 15$ allowance to buy lunch, then we roamed the streets, buying street or restaurant food, souvenirs from shops like the Anne of Green Gables Store, or buying ice cream from Prince Edward Island’s premier creamery, Cow's. Other sights included a giant 2019, St. Duncan's basilica, the shops around the wharf, the Province House, Confederation Landing, and many older buildings of historical significance.
It just so happened that the farmers market was also happening today! Getting to experience the crafts, music, and food of Charlottetown all in one street made for an afternoon that flew right by. Before we knew it we were all on the bus and heading back to Sackville and Mt. Allison via Confederation Bridge. The drive back was scenic and relaxed with many Shads choosing to take advantage of the break in the otherwise busy schedule to catch up on a little sleep. Before we knew it we were back to the now familiar sight of the university campus and Bennett house.
We were only back home for barely a minute before we all got back on the bus one final time and headed down to the Painted Pony for a nice dinner out. When we came back, we had three whole hours to work on our D. E. Projects in groups. Today, we got to work on finding solutions and creating a lean business canvas for our ideas. The hours passed by and at 10 pm we all met up in the lounge of Bennett house for our now well practiced fiducial. The day finished off with some announcements and a reflection on the weekend trip. For many Shads, PEI had been a place of firsts. First time eating a lobster, first time hearing about Anne of Green Gables, first time seeing the Atlantic ocean and Kaitlyn's house! The trip was not only a well-appreciated excursion but a learning opportunity and experience in one of the oldest and most historically rich places Canada has to offer. With 19 more days to go, we can’t wait to see what comes next!
