We started off the day today bright and early with recreational activities in the gym with Everett. The SHAD’s had a great time playing basketball, volleyball, badminton and participating in a small workout session lead by Erin. Morning recreation was a great way to prepare for the day ahead and burn some calories in the process.
Breakfast today consisted of lots of delicious foods, including chocolate chip pancakes, bacon, home fries, scrambled eggs, and much more.
Right after breakfast, David led a seminar on design, teaching the SHADs about important concepts that will become extremely useful when their final projects roll around.
The Great Garage Sale Garage Band Challenge of 2019 #2019ShadMtAGGSGBC2019 finally took off with its live performances by six incredible groups. Using their home-made musical instruments and their fantastic singing voices, many beautiful pieces of music were created.
For lunch today, we had some delicious roast beef, mashed potatoes and mac & cheese—a wonderful combination.
Today, we were rewarded with the opportunity to travel to Sackville Town Hall and meet with deputy mayor Ron Aiken. Afterward, we visited the Sackville Fire Hall, and were given a tour by Fire Chief, Shawn Phinney, and got to see the different equipment the firefighters use daily.
Staying fit once again, the SHADs went to the field to play some organic chemistry tag and ultimate frisbee disk :))
For dinner tonight there was rice, chicken, vegetables, and of course a variety of desserts. combination.
Dr. Matt Betti taught the SHADs how to find a transmitter by coding a receiver and sent them on a scavenger hunt.
Finally, shout-outs to Lisa, Alan, Harry, Kelsey, Neha, Hunter, Joshua, and Ben—the 8 brave SHAD’s volunteered to present their SHAD speaks.
